There is a need among the public to learn to communicate in Afrikaans. This course will enable participants to listen, speak, read and write Afrikaans at an elementary level.

Purpose of the course:

The aim of this beginners’ course is to enable participants to communicate in Afrikaans at a basic level in social and professional environments. The course focuses on listening, speaking, reading and writing tasks.

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • listen to and comprehend an Afrikaans speaker.
  • speak Afrikaans at an acceptable level of accuracy and fluency.
  • read and comprehend basic Afrikaans texts.
  • write basic texts in Afrikaans.

Participants are able to comprehend an Afrikaans speaker at a basic level.

Participants are able to take part in an conversation in Afrikaans at a basic level.

Participants are able to answer comprehension questions on a text.

Participants are able to write basic texts in Afrikaans at an acceptable level of accuracy.
