The reason why the NWU wishes to offer the course is to meet the ever-increasing demand for Excel skills.

Purpose of the course:

This short course aims to equip participants with MS Excel skills to apply in various settings.

Admission requirements:

Admission requirements: 
NQF level 4
Learning assumed to be in place: 
NQF level 4, The participant has basic computer literacy skills. The participant has basic Excel skills.

Assessment Criteria

  After completion of this course, participants will: Participant will be assessed on the following criteria:
 
  1. Work with multiple worksheets.
  2. Apply the IF-function;
  3. Demonstrate basic knowledge of financial and statistical functions;
  4. Demonstrate sufficient knowledge of V-lookup and H-lookup functions;
  5. Demonstrate knowledge of Excel templates;
  6. Demonstrate the ability to import data.
  1. work with multiple worksheets and consolidate data from different worksheets/workbooks;
  2. use the IF-function to perform logical tests;
  3. apply basic financial and statistical functions;
  4. use the V-lookup and H-lookup functions to look up a value in a table;
  5. use and create Excel templates;
  6. import data from various sources and in different formats.

Method of assessment: 
Learning objectives will be accomplished through the successful completion of assignments and participation in short course activities, proving insight into the topics at hand.
