Introductory Course
Computer literacy has become a necessity for all who interact with others. Word Processing is one of the key factors when it comes to computer literacy. Businesses and most organizations make use of word processors to communicate, administer and co-ordinate daily tasks and activities.

Purpose of the course:

This course aims to equip participants with the basic MS Word skills. This includes, but is not limited to: opening, creating, editing, saving and closing a document in a word processor.

NQF level 4; The participant has basic computer literacy skills.

Assessment Criteria

  After completion of this course, participants will: Participant will be assessed on the following criteria:
  1. Work with word documents;
  2. Do basic formatting of text and paragraphs;
  3. Use bullets and numbers.
  1. Create, open, close, save, exit and print documents;
  2. Undo and redo changes in a Word document;
  3. Type text, use symbols and do basic formatting of text;
  4. Format paragraphs;
  5. Use bullets and numbers.


Assignments and participation
Method of assessment: 
Learning objectives will be accomplished through the successful completion of assignments and participation in short course activities, proving insight into the topics at hand.
