Intermediate Spanish
Students who have completed a basic course in Spanish are given the opportunity to advance to the next level in proficiency in Spanish.

Purpose of the course:

To develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Spanish on an Intermediate Level.

Admission requirements:

Admission requirements: 
None, but prospective participants should note the learning assumed to be in place.
Learning assumed to be in place: 
A basic knowledge of and skill in Spanish. Typically, participants should have completed the Short Course in Spanish for Beginners at NWU.

Assessment Criteria

  After completion of this course, participants will: Participant will be assessed on the following criteria:
  • Listen to and comprehend a Spanish speaker at an intermediate level
  • Participants are able to comprehend a Spanish speaker at an intermediate level
  • Speak Spanish at an intermediate level of accuracy and fluency
  • Participants are able to take part in an conversation in Spanish at an intermediate level
  • ead and comprehend intermediate Spanish texts
  • Participants are able to answer comprehension questions on an intermediate level text
  • Write intermediate texts in Afrikaans
  • Participants are able to write intermediate level texts in Spanish at an acceptable level of accuracy


No official assessment since it is a participation course.
Method of assessment: 
Class tests are written during the course.
