Basic Legal Training for Administrative Staff

Purpose of the course:

The purpose of the course is to train administrative personnel in the employment of Legal Aid South Africa in critical skills.

Admission requirements:

Admission requirements: 
Grade 12.
Learning assumed to be in place: 
Recommended prior experience and knowledge in basic law fundamentals.

Module 1: ADMINISTRATION

After the completion of this module the learner should be able to show an understanding of the administration process.

At the end of the module the learner will be expected, within the context of a class situation, to practically demonstrate a well-rounded and systematic knowledge base of the administration process.

 

Module 2: PRE-LITIGATION PROCESS

After the completion of this module the learner should be able to show an understanding of the pre-litigation process and the learner should be able to follow and complete instructions received in a simulated format.

At the end of the module the learner will be expected, within the context of a class situation, to practically demonstrate a well-rounded and systematic knowledge base of the pre-litigation process and the ability to complete instructions received.

Module 3: LITIGATION PROCESS

After the completion of this module the learner should be able to show an understanding of the litigation process and the learner should be able to follow and complete instructions received in a simulated format.

At the end of the module the learner will be expected, within the context of a class situation, to practically demonstrate a well-rounded and systematic knowledge base of the litigation process and the ability to complete instructions received.

Module 4: ACTION PROCEDURE

After the completion of this module the learner should be able to show an understanding of the action process and the learner should be able to follow and complete instructions received in a simulated format.

At the end of the module the learner will be expected, within the context of a class situation, to practically demonstrate a well-rounded and systematic knowledge base of the action procedure and the ability to complete instructions received.

Module 5: APPLICATION PROCEDURE

After the completion of this module the learner should be able to show an understanding of the application procedure and the learner should be able to follow and complete instructions received in a simulated format.

At the end of the module the learner will be expected, within the context of a class situation, to practically demonstrate a well-rounded and systematic knowledge base of the application procedure and the ability to complete instructions received.

Module 6: BASIC OPERATING PROCEDURE WHEN WORKING WITH A DICTAPHONE

After the completion of this module the learner should be able to follow and complete instructions received via a Dictaphone.

At the end of the module the learner will be expected, within the context of a class situation, to practically demonstrate a well-rounded and systematic knowledge base of the basic skills needed to complete instructions received via a Dictaphone.
