The programme is to assist the middle and senior managers to play a meaningful role in implementing their organisations policies and strategies.

Purpose of the course:

At the end of the programme, the participants will have an understanding of business strategy and have the capacity to build teamwork. To equip practicing managers with skills in marketing, negotiation, leadership and supply chain, which are necessary for managers to be successful?

MODULE 1: DEMONSTRATE A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE ROLE OF A BUSINESS STRATEGY IN

MANAGING A SMALL BUSINESS OR A BUSINESS UNIT 

At the end of the learning cycle the learners will demonstrate knowledge and understanding to:

  • Analysing the business strategy of an organisation.
  • Communicating a business strategy to a business unit.
  • Aligning a business unit with business strategy.
  • Identifying the training needs of a business unit to provide support for the business strategy.

 

1. Analyse the business strategy of an organisation.

Explain with an example the concept of a business strategy.

Describe with examples the advantages of having a business strategy.

Clarify with examples the disadvantages of not having a business strategy.

Identify the business objectives of an organisation and indicate how the achievement of business objectives is measured.

MODULE  2  :

DEVELOP A STRATEGIC PLAN 

At the end of the learning cycle, the learners will demonstrate knowledge and understanding to:

  • Articulating the vision in a marketing context
  • Analysing possible long-term trends with macro, micro, market and competitor environments
  • Developing strategic marketing objectives
  • Developing alternative long-term strategies
  • Evaluating and recommending "best" strategy
1. Articulate the vision in marketing context

Buy in into the vision by stakeholders.

Develop a marketing Mission Statement.

BUILD TEAMS TO ACHIEVE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES 

At the end of the learning cycle, the learners will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  • Theory of teams and team dynamics.
  • Different types of teams.
  • Characteristics of high performance teams.
  • Techniques for managing team dynamics.
  • Leadership styles.

 

1. Demonstrate knowledge of an insight into the theory of teams and the importance of teams in workplace activities.

Compare the characteristics of a team and team interaction with those of a group.

Describe different types of teams in terms of their unique roles and characteristics.

Motivate with examples the importance of teams for achieving workplace goals and objectives of the contributions of teams.
